100,000 jobs gone in last 4 months

The Daily Telegraph’s jobs’ monitor makes for pretty grim reading, especially when you realize that the total number of jobs lost (the actual number is currently 102,183) have all gone in the last 4 months.  Not only does that mean that there are 100,000 fewer people in work and a corresponding number of businesses that are contracting, but it also means that for every job being created (and there aren’t many of those), a huge number of extra applicants will be chasing the opportunity.

What does this mean for job seekers? First, there is a lot of competition out there; and secondly that job seekers are going to have to work very hard to stand out from the crowd.  A first class CV is an essential component and you should aim to tailor each one as much as possible for the job for which you are applying. GazetMe will help with this process by storing the underlying data for easy reuse.
